New Airplane Hotel

Hotels seem to be trying to be increasingly unique, and sometimes even gimmicky these days. They are constantly pushing the limits of what a hotel experience should be.

bijz1889_7 Can a plane be a hotel? According to the Oxford dictionary, a hotel is “A building where meals and rooms are provided for payment.” So technically, this new Hotel Honecker at Amsterdam's Teuge airport isn’t a hotel, but it’s owner’s aren’t worried about technicalities of definitions. It’s already booked solid for the next 2 months after only recently opening.

The owner’s spent $640,000 US to convert the plane into a stopover spot, literally at the end of the runway. At $500 a night, you can stay aboard your own private airplane. One that doesn’t go anywhere. One where you’ll probably have to hunch over to walk around the bed. But it’s all in good fun. The design is simple and neutral, and looks to be very well outfitted with separate living room, bedroom, kitchenette, and a bathroom much more spacious than your typical airplane lavatory!

I’m just wondering if the mini bar is stocked with more than tiny bags of peanuts?
