Restaurant Fever (Or a Restaurant You Might Go to With a Fever?)

Efforts in restaurant design these days seem to favour the extreme and wacky. The more original and memorable the experience, the more people will to flock to see it.

Take this restaurant called “Hospitalis” that recently opened in Riga, Latvia of all places. The whole theme of the experience is to be treated like a patient at a hospital. Ironically (or maybe not so ironically) some of the restaurant’s owners are actual local doctors.

From the moment you arrive and are greeted by your nurse (yes that’s right), your senses are bombarded with eerie imagery, furniture, and props reminiscent of a hospital. Food is even served in flasks, test tubes, and operating room stainless plates (At least their menu doesn't have anything like liver and onions on it).

And the washroom, well I know I’d feel like a dementia patient.

Is there such a thing as hospital chic? I don’t really think so. Is it weird? Yes. Is it memorable? Yes.
