I've long been a fan of the Buddha Bar CD collection of music by Raymond Visan. the collection of music now has over 10 CD sets produced over the last 10 years, and features very global, very loungy music which creates a very distinct mood (perfect for dinner parties).
Opening soon, scheduled Fall 2008, is the Buddha Bar Hotel in Prague. The idea is take the notion of creating luxury for all the senses in the Buddha Bar "style", and transforming it into a hotel setting. At first glance at the images, they didn't seem really extreme or innovative to me (and perhaps the dragon motif is a little over used), but at closer look, they definately create that "mood" and I can see how visiting the hotel could make you feel like you're part of the mystical Buddha Bar type of experience.
From the Buddha Bar Hotel Prague website..."the first Buddha Bar Hotel emboldens the essence of contemporary modern Asian interior design with French colonial influence and will be located in the heart of Prague...". I'm not sure how relevant Asian and French colonial design style is in Prague, but somehow overall I think the concept of the mobile and transported lifestyle hotel works.
The only thing I was a little annoyed at was that they are promoting that some of their guests could be "beautiful people, celebrities, and heads of state". They even name drop a few celebrity names like Cameron Diaz, David Beckhem, and Bill Clinton. I suppose some people would allow this to sway their lodging choices, and who doesn't like to be among celebrities, but I think they could survive on, and rely more on the looks and amenities of the space.
