Schoos Design is a design firm that are probably best known for their design of the Tao nightclubs in LA and Las Vegas, as well as the LAX nightclub at the Luxor. They also recently designed a line of fabrics called Fresh for Valley Forge Fabrics. But it is their hotels that I’m particularly fond of. Below are three examples of what I consider good hotel design.
Huntley Hotel, Santa Monica
Gorgeous forms and luxurious textures in the lobby lounge.
A suite that evokes feelings of both coastal tranquility and sophistication.
Hotel Vertigo, San Francisco
Monochromatic but bold. I love all the sculptural elements in the room. Often hotels are under accessorized, but this one is not!
Playful and cheery guest rooms. Who would have thought to use orange sheers!
Hotel Frank, San Francisco
Tufting and panel moldings are a popular choice for Schoos. They hint at the traditional, but used in this setting with bold accessories and graphics, it is contemporary in a refreshing way.
Guestrooms have a hint of glamour with distinctive light fixtures and sculptural free standing tub.
