Droog, the design collective established in Amsterdam in the early 90’s, if finally opening a shop in North America today. Where else would you find quirky, iconic, and bizarre furniture and objects? Soho New York of course.
Here are some of the interesting objects one can purchase from Droog.
Perhaps one of the most well known (and one of my favorite) furniture pieces in the Droog line up is the Knotted Chair by current hospitality design darling Marcel Wanders.
Or perhaps you recognize this odd Tree-trunk Bench designed by Jurgen Bey, which was used (not designed by) Philippe Starck in his lobby design of the Hudson Hotel in New York several years back.
Other quirky items for sale include this Tableau Table cloth, designed by Maurice Sheltens. The idea being that “…this table cloth is decorated with the silhouettes of the aftermath of a dinner party.”
Or perhaps you could use the Mat Walk Bathroom Mat by Paolo Ulian.
Or this clever Do Frame Tape by Marte Guixe
If you cannot wait for the online ordering feature of the website to become active, just hop on a quick 5 hour flight to New York for the grand opening, and you can bring them back with you….(well maybe not the log bench)
