Best Hotel of 2008

I get to see a lot of photos of various hotels as part of research for my job. I was thinking the other day, what is the current #1 hotel in the world according to travellers? Of course there are many organizations and magazines that hold annual suveys, but Travel and Leisure magazine is known to be a reliable source among "top drawer" clientele.

T&L recently put out their World's Best Hotels list, and the #1 voted hotel in the world for 2008 is the Lebombo Lodges at Singita Kruger National Park in South Africa.


Located in a jaw dropping setting, this hillside perched hotel with 15 suites has all the modern luxuries you could ever want, yet it balances the ever present reminder that you're smack dab in the middle of a wild game reserve. You can bathe indoors or outdoors. Sleep indoors or outdoors (under a mosquito net of course), and dine indoors or outdoors. Have a massage at a 5 star spa while watching a herd of elephants wander by. This is pure luxury, and it shows. It better be at $1225.00 a night per person (based on double occupancy...so that's $2450.00 per night per couple).
